With the voluntary social year (FSJ) and the federal voluntary service (BFD), you will find...

... a youth education programme for young people between 16 and 27 years of age

... a chosen by you place of work in social, nursing and inter-cultural fields for your 12-month voluntary service

... the feel good factor from your support and active participation in social work to enrich and to support

... and additionally increasing your chances of an apprenticeship or course of studies.

Where and what

Whether educational, personal, cultural, sporting, musical, technically or domestically:

You yourself select the work area for your voluntary service.

You bring:

  • Curiosity about social and ecclesiastical fields
  • Motivation for a year’s volunteering
  • Openness to other people and their life situation
  • The desire to think about yourself
  • Willingness to share yourself with others
  • Interest in dealing with issues of Christianity and the religions

You get:

During your service you will receive

  • Technical instruction and educational support
  • 25 training days, which you actively help to shape
  • 26 holiday days
  • Pocket money and allowance
  • If necessary, accommodation
  • A voluntary services card that provides you with many benefits
  • Comprehensive social and health insurance
  • If necessary, child benefit
  • Contact with religious institutions and training bodies
  • A certificate upon completion of the voluntary service which will help you with your future applications.

In addition, for many social training and courses, your voluntary service is recognised as work placement.

Each recognised voluntary service in Germany is associated with a specific carrier. This carrier organises the required training days and is the main contact for volunteers and the deployment locations.
